Atamina David, professionally known as Prof. Atamina is a Ghanaian Musician, Performer, and Songwriter whose style of music can be classified under Traditional African Folk Music or World Music. His music is doing well in both local and international market. He has toured a lot of countries with his music and yet still he is seeking to play on a bigger platform than ever.

David Nbabila Atamina was born to Madam Ama Ann Abugpoka and Mr Aposongba Atamina in Damongo in the then Northern Region of Ghana (Now Savannah Region). He is the second of seven children. He had his basic school education at the Canteen L/A and the St. Anne’s R/C Junior Secondary School in Damongo.
He then furthered his Studies at the Tamale Senior Secondary School (TAMASCO) where he was offered, General Science. With his excellent academic exploits, he was among the team that represented “TAMASCO” in the National Science and Maths Quiz between 2004/2005.
After successfully completing his SSCE with distinction, he gained admission in 2007 to pursue BSc. Nursing at the University of Ghana (Legon). While in the university, Prof. Atamina performed to the amazement of his colleagues, visitors, and others at programs such as the Commonwealth Hall week celebrations.
The University of Ghana Nursing Students Association’s health week celebrations, etc. He is currently living in his hometown Bongo in the Upper East region, where he and his Band are having series of Rehearsals in preparation for a tour, as soon as the Covid19 restrictions are eased.
He was often called to play during Communal Farming, Funerals, Engagements, and at Church. He started professional music in 2010. His first album titled “African Problem” was released on November 29, 2011, under the management of Dr Emmanuel Azusong Atusinya. Some of the songs which made waves in the first Album included “Why Me”, “Good things have owners”, “Family Planning”, and “Na’am Bobri Kaara m3”.
The second album was produced in collaboration with Makkum Records, a record label in Amsterdam, and Mr Simon Peter Adatare ( formerly of Cocoboard). This album titled “Sycophantic Friends” received a lot of airplay in Ghana and across the globe.

Some of the tracks in the Sycophantic Friend album included: Enjoy yourself, When two Elephants fight, No one wants to die, Rubber Song, Guhumenga, Bakolko, Wine’nbisi Mam, etc. His last album “Trouble Car” which was released under OneDuniya’ on 6th October 2020, is distributed online by Apprise Music on all digital platforms.
